Fake 2006 Topps Alex Gordon ??

Look at the copyright symbol. High on silver and full. Lower on Gold.

Look at stars placement. Look further on raw Gold vs. BGS Gold.

Raw Gold "Alex Gordon" appears closer together. Extra Gold or ??

I'm leaving work so If I'm back it wont be until late tonite

I don't know if it is fake but I've been dealing with another seller on ebay. I've been chatting with him about a few of his cards and he's been great. From giving me extra large scans to giving me his phone #. From what he was telling me he had just gotten a sub back from the BGS. Either way, he seems very helpful and answers all of my questions. I think you should email him and see what he can do for you.

Here is a link to the seller I'm referring to: bflinstead

  • Thanks. Will do. That's his pic I used. I guess I'll start watching these and compare pics. One guy on FCB was saying the raw Gold is fake. Looking for more info.

Looks odd to me. Ask to see the back maybe?

The guys on FCB jump the gun a lot. I do agree that he has one suspect patch up for auction, but I don't see why that Gordon gold foil is fake.

edited for spelling and to include the weird Ruth card is also suspect...who knows it's true history. The rest of the stuff looks okay.

    Baseball sucks
  • Look at the BGS Gold vs. the raw Gold. The raw has the letters in his name touching.

Anyone seen a card with extra foil?

Man the run on these is so scarce that it would be hard to judge this card on any merit. The only fault I see are the people paying bigtime money for
these "cards". Call me old fashion but I would rather have an on card auto RC of a guy rather than a card that topps could print up at anytime of the year!

    suppossedly there are multiple variations..

1 - is the Acutal Card

2 - Cut Out of Acutal Card

    3 - White out (Gold)

    4 - White out (Silver)

The tone of the the 2 white out cards is different and when the Alex Gordon was originally found they were selling both Silver and Gold (just different shades of the same color to me).

BuT!!!!!! there is a theory that when the card was first discovered someone went and printed all the white out versions and none of them are real....

So far, I don't think there has been any offical confirmation of the white outs from Topps.

There was also a heritage Cut Out to appear the same year.

It is weird though whenever someone seems to be selling an Alex Gordon 2006 Topps on Ebay the picture of the card is the exact same one that is used (if it is ungraded) but yet all the sellers say check scan for condition.....

    hmm......

    one of my favorite cards......

being a royal fan and an error collector.

PS - I'm still looking for the Mark Whiten 1991 topps (hand out of box error) in good condition.

    thx
    Buying:
Topps White Out (silver) letters Alex Gordon
80 Topps Greg Pryor “No Name"
    90 ProSet Dexter Manley error
90 Topps Jeff King Yellow back
    1958 Topps Pancho Herrera (no“a”)
81 Topps Art Howe (black smear above hat)
    91 D A. Hawkins BC-12 “Pitcher”

  • About 1 or 2 months ago there was 2 Whiten error auctions. 1st one ended around $20 and unsure on the 2nd.

I assume the White's are real. Beckett lists them and they are picky about what E/V's they list. At least from my experience, they have been informed about the numerous other FF variations and well.....5 versions listed.

There was a post over on the FCB and it asked...Is it too early to call Alex Gordon a bust?

Keith Olbermann was ready to plop down 10,000 dollars on a full 06 heritage card if it existed. I wonder how his collection is doing!

  • Don't consider Gordon a bust just yet. He's only 24 and, with the exception of # of hits in fewer at bats, his stats last year improved across the board from his rookie year. Only thing missing is a little plate discipline (high 2/1 on the K/BB ratio).

He has been dealing with a hip problem and is going to have surgery...

He will be out for the next 2 months or so.

He will be looked at post all-start break to see if he has had an improvements as a hitter.

Royals camp says he was greatly improved in this hitting approach and s solid 3bman in the field.

This was suppossed to be the year he made the move to become a solid , middle of lineup guy but the hip has bothered him too much and I believe he will get the surgery by next week the latest.

So , we will see ?
