VCP help needed & opinions on a card needed(scan added)

I was wondering if someone could give me VCP on the following card for each of the grades listed below.
I found a guy who has BGS 8.5's and 9.0's and was wanting to see if his prices were close to a PSA 9 so I could justify taking a chance of a PSA 9 crossover or if it's even worth it. Normally I wouldn't ask for VCP help, but I've been looking for several months and have not found one card for sale until now.

1981 Topps #302 Dodgers Future Stars Perconte/Scioscia/Valenzuela
BGS 8.5
BGS 9

I added a scan of a BGS 9 card below. It seems to be a very solid 9 but the owner is asking $49.95 obo and the PSA 9's were selling at $25 to $35 last year based on VCP.
Any thoughts on the card? It seems like a tough card to find.

    Thanks for the info...That's what I was wondering. I had gotten the data on PSA 9 recently, but I can't find any PSA 9's for sale.

    Right now I have found a BGS 9, but it seems to be slightly higher than the PSA 9's. I was hoping to pull the trigger, but this card would be about $10 to $15 more than the PSA 9's that sold last year. Maybe I should hit the guy with an offer?

    If what you want is a PSA 9 then save yourself money and risk and simply wait for the next PSA 9 to come up for sale. On top of the cost of the Beckett card you've got to pay for grading and shipping and then what happens if it doesn't grade a 9. Plus there's a lot of black smudging in the name area of Valenzuela.

    I was wondering about the black smudging in the name. Kind of a bummer...I really wouldn't have a problem leaving a card in the BGS holder if i find the right one. I guess I will keep looking. I've only been looking for 5 months . I guess I can keep looking.
