Does anyone like 1976 coins...

P Cent: Pcgs ms67rd. There are 2 ms68rds out there but it's hard to imagine them being this nice.
image

D Cent: Pcgs ms67rd pop 15/0. The nicest of three I've owned (including one I got graded myself) and likely the nicest one in existence. Carl from Pinevalley submitted it several times trying for an ms68!
image

P Nickel: I need one!

D Nickel: Pcgs ms66fs pop 22/0. Best of three I've owned. Was an easy cross over from anacs.
image

P Dime: Pcgs ms67 pop 14/0. Best of three I've owned. The other 2 were awful. This one's a beauty!
imageimage

D Dime: Pcgs ms68 pop 3/0. Pretty much is flawless!
imageimage

P quarter: eh, I have a placeholder but still looking for that super pq one!

D quarter: eh, I have a placeholder, but still looking for a super pq ms67 or even a pop 4 ms68.

P Kennedy: Pcgs ms67 pop 13/0. Bought from a forum member. Very nice coin.

D Kennedy: I had one but sold it! It wasn't nice enough for me. Still looking for a pq one. I heard Richard Green's was super nice. Who has that?

P Ike Type 1: Pcgs ms66 pop 22/0 (true pop I believe is 19/0 due to misattributions). This is arguably the toughest coin since the 32-d quarter to find in a nice ms66 condition! I've seen 4 of these in person and like mine the best. I actually will be getting an even nicer one soon!

D Ike Type 1: Pcgs ms67 pop 3/0. Newly acquired from James Sego. (and much nicer than the one he sold in his HOF #1 set!).

P Ike Type 2: Pcgs ms67 pop 8/0. From a board member!

D Ike Type 2: Still need one!

Fantastic set! Most of those coins are big-time tough to make, let alone obtain. Congratulations!
  • Yup... just showing off! I hope y'all don't mind. (I have to say I enjoy when others show off their coins!). Awesome 76-d TwinCam! I knew it was probably you who had it. Awesome 76-s too. I don't own a single silver Ike or 76-s coin yet. I guess I just like clad a lot better!

Think I have a few of them somewhere. But most are not that nice.
I think you need some of those S' for the mint set.

  • Amazing! It's also reassuring to know that some modern gems could still be lurking out there for $5 on eBay or hiding right now in folders, waiting to be discovered. I'm about to go look at my old wheat penny folder, since the quarterly special is for coins with Lincoln's portrait, which, commemoratives aside, is pretty much the last 100 years worth of cents.

There's a place in my heart for the "1776-1976" bicentennial program, as it was for me growing up the most commonly seen variation from the familiar 1965-1990+ lineup. Though my own collecting these days tends to focus on older issues, I may go back and revisit the moderns that got me into coin collecting in the first place.

Jeez... My very favorite registry proof set is my 1976
set. I made most of them, myself. It has the highest
grade of any of my registry sets, too (71)..

I enjoyed, very much, building the UNC set, too. I
made most of those, as well. Lots of fun looking for
them, and especially, hoping for FS on my Jeff
submissions. I made a Denver 66 Full Stepper, too!

    Thanks for reminding me!image

  • I got one 66fs and several 65fs D nickels pcgs graded from a batch of 7 bank rolls. Then I got the anacs one. I still have both a 66fs and 65fs 76-d for sale if anyone needs one.

I did a bulk order of 76-p dimes once, getting about 20 or 21 ms66's. I cracked out the best 4 for resubmission, and 3 went to ms65! Then I got my first pcgs ms67 in the mail and it looked 2 grades worse than my new ms65s. (4 point swing there pcgs!). I still have the ms65s, but thankfully I got this super nice ms67 now.

There are a lot of spectacular coins in this thread. (a few of improvable without
extreme effort). I've never understood why these coins are so overlooked since
most are needed for any US type set. Sure you can get a "common" gem for most
of the clads but for these there is no alternative.

I have always liked the 76 coins. Still hang on to every quarter I get in change. I just sent in the three silver proofs and the Ike came back PR69.
