yeah! my set's been added

yes, the moment for which the collecting world has been holding its breath: the addition of the '53-54 parkhurst set!

seriously, i'm really excited that this set has been added, and am most impressed by the fact that bj e-mailed me this evening to let me know it had been added. that's pretty classy service. anyway, i look forward to registering my cards and to becoming a card-carrying member of the registry forum.

thanks, kids. but i have to admit that i totally suck for not yet making my cards public.

i registered 15 cards tonight, but decided to wait on displaying them for a couple of weeks. there's a seller in vancouver who has launched about four waves of high-grade '53s on ebay, with at least one more auction scheduled. the bidding has become increasingly competitive with each subsequent auction. still bitter that i came away with just a 7 in the guy's last round of listings, i don't want to let rival bidders know anything beyond what they already know.

i swear, man, this hobby brings about totally neurotic behavior.

  • Yawie99, I don't show my grades either. That actually entitles you to the Platinum Cool Card image.

The card may be Platinum but you need the new PSA glass decoder to see member information. image

  • Carlos, I guess that explains why I can't get into the best retaurants and hotels. They don't have that dam decoder to verify my identity. By the way, I still don't have one of those yet.
  • I spoke to Charlie a couple of days ago in my usual whining mode and brought up the subject. If you call customer service and tell them you need one (have your last large submission # handy, even if you have received it). They don't give them out like candy but if you're a serious player, they will sent you one,
THE FLOGGINGS WILL CONTINUE UNTIL MORALE IMPROVES

actually, i'll probably relinquish my platinum membership once this guy's run of auctions finally concludes - i really want to see my scans up on the registry.

hopefully i'll be adding a few more cards in his coming auctions, but i'm not counting on it now that psa 8 commons are fetching 1.5 to more than 2 times smr ($60) in some cases. i was questioning my sanity a couple of months ago for buying psa 8 commons from dealers for about 1.2 times smr. now those prices seem like good deals.

  • Hello, silly question here, what does the decoder do?? I have one and I have no idea what it is for?? Thanks in advance.

    I second the decoder question?!

On cards in the "new" PSA holder, the decoder allows you to see PSA's logo encoded in the back of the holder. An additional form of authentication of the holder. Pretty neat -- but not something I would ever carry around. Fun for about as long as a yo-yo!
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
