How much would Tiger's putter go for in an auction

Tiger said that he has been using the exact same putter since 1999 and has won double digit majors with the same flat-stick. What would go for at auction?

I'd pay upwards to $125 and may go a little higher

    Good for you.

Could this putter be the most valueable memorabilia in the golfing arena?

It would go for $100,000 minimum and probably much more, but it will never come up at auction so its a moot point.

Crimson did you mean 125K or 125.00?

Ok, yes, this thread is completely ridiculous because it'll never happen. But, what would be interesting about a piece of memorabilia like that is that it's an item that a layman could actually use. Yeah, you might ding it up a little, but aside from (for example) buying a famous players baseball glove, I can't think of many other items that you could actually use in the same venue/setting that he used it in. I mean if you were to buy that item, you could go out and play Bethpage or Torrey with it. That's pretty cool. If you bought Mickey Mantle's bat or something you couldn't go out and play a game at Yankee Stadium with it. Maybe you could hit that batting cages.

I wouldn't ever say never, I never thought Bob Gibson would sell his MVP or Cy Young awards. If it ever happened it would be to help someone out or a charity. He seems to be playing good with it still so I doubt it will happen soon.

I would estimate 20-25k. That value would change if all of a sudden Tiger went to a weekly putter and donated the ones he used in each tourney, since it would no longer be a unique item so to speak
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

Could you imagine the LOVE you would have for a putter if you were fortunate enough to use that putter in winning 13 majors?

I'd sleep with it, and my Swedish nanny wife

ESPN did a poll last year asking only men, if you could be one current professional athlete for 24 hours who would it be and why? Tiger was the overwhelming choice and most men said Tiger for his money. Whatever!! Keep the money. I want the blonde.

If keeping with other estate selling formulas, when Tiger dies, his estate will offer about fifty of them. LOL

The same could be said for Michael Johnson's Golden Spikes. I would love to own them. Though I doubt I, or anyone else (except for Usain Bolt) could run 200 meters in ~19.32 seconds by wearing them.

Good luck finding a pair of dress pants that match those.

You would have to raid Emmitt Smith's closet to find something like that

Am I the only one who is remotely upset that I hijacked my own thread to just make an Emmitt is ghey reference???

BTW, he and Seacrest are close to splitsville, apparently Emmitt has been secretly texting Jeff Gordon!

  • That specific putter would go for over 100K, if that is indeed the only one he's used in the last dozen years. If he were to use another putter every week after that one and give it to charity....the first one WOULD ONLY INCREASE in value. Either way, it wouldn't go anywhere but up....I could actually see that specific one going for over 250K....you've got to think the fans of Tiger Woods...his status now and 50 years from now....the putter could actually be priceless decades from now...

I think bidding would start at $125,000 and pass $250K in the first day. When you look at the amazing Tiger moments over the years, most
are him on the green working magic with his putter. Heck that Nike ball he mesmerized the world with on the slow drop would bring $25K easy.

The only modern item that might be close would be the North Carolina shorts Jordan wore under his Bulls shorts. I remember reading that a long time ago and he said he wore them every game for luck, but that was in the early 90's.
