Now that we have started a new baseball season and the Yankees are about to officially open their new stadium I couldn't help but post a link to a great video tribute to the legendary Yankee announcer Bob Sheppard which I found on YouTube. If you never had the pleasure of hearing him I think even diehard Yankee haters will like the video. David Cone is right in saying that he should be in the Hall of Fame. I know baseball sportswriters and sportscasters have made the HOF, but what about people who announce players in the game?

For those of you who have never heard of Bob Sheppard, he was an announcer at old Yankee Stadium for 56 years since 1951, Mickey Mantle's Rookie season. Sheppard missed the entire 2008 season due to a bronchial infection. Now 98 years old, the Yankees are not sure if he will ever return to the new stadium.

"The answer was in the Patriots eyes. Gone were the swagger and c0ck sure smirks, replaced by downcast eyes and heads in hands. For his poise and leadership Eli Manning was named the game's MVP. The 2007 Giants were never perfect nor meant to be. They were fighters, scrappers....now they could be called something else, World Champions."
