Daniel J. Geary lost his life March 20th in AFGHANISTAN. He was on his 3rd tour at an early age was to be married this May. He was from Rome,NY. Thanks for protecting my freedom.
Very sad story. I was just reading about out local high school up the street. They now have a special display for 3 recent grads who have been killed in Iraq.
My prayers go out to everyone overseas and to their families and friends.
God bless him RIP My eldest did 2 tours of Afghanistan w/ the Marines and my youngest recently completed a 13 month tour of Iraq as a machine gunner in the Army Airborne. He still has 2 years remaining w/ the Army and hopefully he will not be put in harms way again. My thoughts and prayers are with all our soldiers & Marines that are doing their job protecting our freedom.
Nearly half of all Iraqi causualties were caused by IEDs.
The DOD was slow getting Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles into service. Two-years worth of needless deaths were the result.
The same tardiness is now allowing the deaths of allied troops in Afg. Almost 50% of allied Afg casualties in the past 6-months have been caused by IEDs; these deaths could have been prevented.
Several competent companies with proven track records in MRAP production and delivery stand ready to rapidly deploy the needed vehicles to Afg.
You can save lives by notifying your congressional rep that you want fast action in procurement and delivery of the MRAPs that our troops desperately require in Afg.
Politics and corruption and incompetence should not be allowed to kill anymore American heroes.
Folks Who Bite Get Bitten. Folks Who Don't Bite Get Eaten.
I'll go one step further and say it should never be about sports and sports card. That's why I'm always bothered when I hear analogies of sports to war, e.g. "it's a must win situation", "we're going to battle", "it's a war out there." Pretty strong words regarding athletic competition.
One of the best things I've ever heard/read was when Marv Levy, a veteran of WWII himself, responded to a reporter inquiring whether a particular game was a must win, said that "No. World War II was a must win." Awesome.
