Of course I was glad to see my PR61RB jump up $1,750 to $7K in the latest price guide listing. I still think the gap between PR63's and PR64's prices is too wide for the 1909VDB. Finally, I DO believe that ANY genuine example of the 1909 VDB matte proof Lincoln cent is now worth at least $10,000 to any buyer who can afford one. While I recognize that any collector who has sufficient funds will be very chosey regarding grade and physical condition of this coin, those collectors who have limited funds available and who want the complete set of MPL's for their collection will accept ANY genuine example they can afford. JMHO. Steve
Ask, and PCGS comes through! I'm only kidding of course, but just a day after increasing the PR 60 thru PR63 1909VDB MPL's by one increment, the PCGS price guide now shows a second significant increase. They have definately closed the gap between PR 63 and PR 64 prices on this variety. My PR61RB is now listed at $8,500 which is the third most valuable coin I own behind my 1914D in MS65RB and my 1990 no S in PR68DCAM. Obviously, the ANACS coin that sold in Baltimore is the reason for these changes. Whether or not PCGS crosses this coin will be interesting to see. While I was very suprised the coin sold for almost $20k, it did so because at least TWO collectors wanted it for their collection. Even if the coin winds up in a genuine holder, I'd be interested to see what the coin would command at auction then. Perhaps not $20k, but I continue to believe at least $10k. What do you think?
