PCGS Vam Question

I just started checking some Morgans I bought a few years ago and thei first one I found was a 1887 Vam 12a

PCGS list that they will attribute an 1887 VAM 12 as a top 100, I just found and was on Vam World link and see they have a VAM12a which is rated as a TOP 100 but with a R-5 instead of a R3 rating for the Vam 12.

Will PCGS attribute the VAM 12a on the label or just the VAM 12?

That what I thought, would it be worth it to cross over to ANACS as I saw one with the VAM12a listed on the label or not sure if NGC will to get the 12a on the label?

No....never in fact for any VAM. ANACS is worth 50-80% of the same coin in a PCGS slab. NGC has a bad reputation for mis-attributing VAMs, which hurts their market value. Stick with PCGS.

Take the "R" ratings in the VAM listings with a grain of salt. 1887 VAM 12/12A is a common coin. I'm not sure which of the two is more common, but I have a feeling it's the VAM 12A.
