Anyone find a 2009 cent in change yet?

I know the Fed pipeline has been backed up with 2008 Lincoln cents causing a delay in distribution of the new 2009 designs in some parts of the country since their "formal" launch on February 12. Has any member of the Forum received one of the new coins in change yet? Here in Vegas, where new coins -- such as the years of state commemorative quarters -- usually can/could be found in change not long after their official release dates -- the only "new" cents I've received are dated 2008. My only close and personal encounter with a 2009 Lincoln was at the ANA booth at the ANA Portland convention in early March where the staff members had a limited amount to give away to children. At first glance, the log cabin reverse looked like a small token. Then I remembered that the coin looked "strange" the first time I saw the Lincoln Memorial reverse back in 1959.....

    Nope.

But I did receive a 2008-D the other day!

I think it was my 4th or 5th for the year! (Including the year 2008)
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

Got some in change in San Francisco and in Washington D.C.

I have noticed that Las Vegas tends to not receive new coins as fast as places like San Francisco, L.A., or New York. Also coins from Las Vegas tend to get beaten up faster and most of the change received, especially those denominations commonly fed into slot machines, often appear to be heavily abraded.

I noticed a few in my change last week. Put them back in my pocket, when I saw the different reverse, instead spent other coins. Must have used them though since then, because they aren't in my pocket anymore. Oh well, they'll be making billions of them anyway.

not billions. they also have to make 3 other reverses so they most likely stopped making the log cabin rev already.

I thought most of the slot machines didn't take coins anymore.

In response to Overdate's comment about most Vegas slot machines not taking coins anymore, it depends where you're playing. The big casinos use the coinless ticket-in-ticket-out system. You insert paper money (or a previously received denominated ticket from another machine) to play the slots or video poker machines. If you're lucky enough to cash out any amount you receive a rectangular ticket with that amount printed on it. You can use it in another machine, take it to the Cashier station or swap it for paper money and loose change in one of the nearby ATM-type units.

Many coins are still used in Vegas to give change when paper tickets are redeemed, change for non-credit card/non-room charge purchases in the gift shops and restuarants and bars, and there still are slot machines around town that accept and give out coins. But yes, the coins quickly get beaten up by counting machines. However, in the past five years since I moved here fulltime I've received quite a few fresh-from-the-roll coins from shops around town, on and off The Strip. Some show evidence of mangling from the wrapping machines, but some are really nice.

Las Vegas: Arrive with luggage, leave with baggage.

Most if not all slot machines will accept coins even if the slot machines are T.I.T.O. modified (Ticket-in-ticket-out) but many no longer dispense them when you cash out your credits.
