He's an old hippy and he don't know what to do
Should he hang on to the old?
Should he grab onto the new?
He's an old hippy, his new life is just a bust
He ain't trying to change nobody
He's just trying real hard to adjust.

...as one who "walked that walk" during the early seventies....let me assure you we collected any coin we could. A great place to look was in washing machines in the laudromat. Also, grocery store parking lots were good, and I used to walk along the walls of local schools, where pitching pennies was once a great sport. If you could get into a junkyard (free to roam in a pick-it yard) there was always some coin to be found under the seats. Bad thing here was you usually had to buy something, a window crank was my usual "buy".

But money in itself was not a goal, just something you needed to grease the path of life a bit.

yean dig it ........it is spelled Hippie image

I'm not sure but I'd bet a buck they'd be minted from "pot" metal!

I had a Bob Marley Jamacan silver/gold commemorative when I was a hippie. I traded it for a gold spouse when I became a democrat. Now that I'm an independent I just collect gold.
