Fugly Franklins

My apologies if the consignor is a forumite, but should not an MS67 at least have some eye appeal?

Many franklins have fugly toning, and a ton in high grades. Definitely a mint set toner.

I do agree about the eye appeal, maybe not as bad as the photo suggests.

I guess Pleasing warm russet toned surfaces is one way to describe Ugly.

I think it just points out the limitations of numerical grading...

I think that the obverse is OK, the reverse needs a little help. But I have seen (and owned) fuglier.

I don't think it looks too bad.

    I have seen better though.

When a coin has toning that the grading service finds pleasing, they increase the grade a few points above the deserved grade to reflect the market value...thus market grading.

to my eye that is UGLY...and typical of an NGC grade...

YES, ngc IS A poor choice for Franklins - too many overgraded pieces with negitive eye appeal .

In fact NGC or whatever .......... Franklins are a dead series right now ; nobody's buying them and nobody wants them .

If you are forced to sell (even nice examples) you get slaughtered.

I been waiting some ten years to have the market for Franklins surge -so I can sell ...........fat chance

Hey, Bushie... can't you tell that is WARM RUSSET toning... don't you just want to wrap yourself up in it on a cold winters night? image

    Hmmm.

I'd rather keep warm with this half..

It's gotten too rich for my blood though.

Edit: If it had a CAC sticker, I'd bid again!
