Babe Ruth Shrine Gold Coin

I don't know if anybody on this board can help me. But, over the weekend I purchased a Gold Coin of Babe Ruth which was sold to residents of the Baltimore, MD area only. They were being sold to commemorate the Shrine of Babe Ruth that was being built back in 1983. I'm trying to find information on it but I'm getting nowhere. Also, I do not have a scan of it at this moment. But, if any information would be great. Thanks

Sound like something I would like to see!!

  • Not sure if this is what your looking for, but check out the Linky. The website has pictures, and if it matches your coin, may give others a better idea on how to help you.
  • My work has blocked that site. Could you by any chance paste that on this thread?

I doubt it's a coin. Sounds like it may be medal.

  • I just had my brother e-mail me the photos. Yes this is the exact coin I am talking about. Does anybody have any information on it?
  • Perhaps a value?

It's not a gold piece, just gold in color.

  • Please excuse my knowledge in the coin industry. I deal sports cards mostly. However, this coin was in a collection I purchased. I plan on listing it on eBay but wanted to get a little market value from the coin experts on this message board.

It is not a coin but a medallion. Assuming that it is not made of gold I would expect a price of maybe $10.

  • Wow only $10...that sucks! Thanks for your input and your help.

Stuff like this are usually brass or gold plated base metal.

  • I don't think you can call it a coin.
There's no legal tender value on it.

I collect all 20th century series except gold including those series that ended there.
