frosty with a capital "F"

yummm......... not my coin, but I wish it were!

I'll bet it is even more stunning in hand, if it looks that good in scanner images!

  • Doug,
That is a real floordropper! Amazing coins such as this British 1887 Proof Crown aren't commonly seen nowadays.I've not seen a Victorian Proof coin since I started working in the numismatic trade in late 1997.

If we're going to drool collectively over DLRC's inventory, I prefer these two.image I wish I had started a high grade sovereign set when it was still time.

Doug, congrats on your Vicky, but I try to stay away from the title. image

Does it come from the auction we were talking about here? For interested parties, I see that the sovereigns above are still available at $4K and $3.5K accordingly. I can't figure out DLRC, is he too expensive, or do you come across some decent prices too?

    Dimitri,

thanks! image yeah, it came from the same DLRC auction as the beautiful Sovs (i love the rare 1826 proof 2 sov too that they had). Other experieces may vary, but for me, i've either gotten some smoking bargains, or the reserve was set far too high. It seems that i've never won anything from them at book value that represents the middle ground; not that i'm complaining, i love getting great deals! it just seems that other things i want are set too high above what i think they're "worth". image
