A public thank you to Blu62vette
I posted this on that "other forum" but since there are a number of darkside coins in the batch, I thought I'd post this here as well.
I contracted Blu62vette to image some coins for me. They aren't anything super. Some I want to sell latter. Some I just wanted images for so that if I have to sell them some years down the road, I'll have images. I thought the images would be cool to load on my iPod and take with me to shows. Whatever.
So Blu62vette finishes up in like a day and sends me a link to a preview page and asks "is there anything you don't like, should I reshoot anything for you?"
I open the page and don't even recognize these are my coins until I scroll halfway down the page and see the proof roos. Talk about a double take.
You have to understand, these aren't even very "nice" coins by forum standards. They're all just what a lot of you guys call widgets. But holy cow do they look good to my eyes under Blu62vette's lens.
So I just want to publicly thank Blu62vette. Thank you. Your camera kung-fu is better than mine...
For the rest of you, if you're interested in seeing some of the cool images, here's a link.

Nice bunch of coins! The MS65BN large cents look yummy, too.

all of the less than MS coins on the page came from my mom as part of a type set. I expect to have Blu62vette images a bunch of MS coins from the collection next week. I'll post a link. Although, I think a lot will light side. I have a bunch of dark side stuff to sift through that mom left me, but it's all raw. I can shoot raw, but slabs elude my lens.

Widgets??? NICE widgets!
<< <i>So do the pictures he took look like the coins? If not and you sell them using those pictures then the buyer will be in the same shoes as Ajaan is right now with his Canadian Large Cent. Pictures that don't match the coin. >>
The pictures do look like the coins. Ajaan would not be disappointed with a coin in hand that he bought based on Blu62vette's images.
edited to add:
In fact while I was with Blu62vette at lunch, he was showing me a few photos he had just taken for Charmy Harker (The Penny Lady). Charmy had him image a bunch of IHC proofs. I liked the photos of the coins so much that we called Charmy and I agreed to pay her $1300 for the pair.
You guys don't know me, but I'm pretty picky about the coins I buy. I return more coins than I keep (but I must keep enough because dealers are willing to keep sending me coins in the mail
Having received the coins in hand that I bought based on the images below, I have to say... I'm tickled pink. The Blu62vette images were right on the money (color, defects and beauty). I won't be sending these back to Charmy.
And I'm sure when I used Blu62vettes images to sell some of my coins, my customers will feel the same way. I believe the coin is what it is. A photo should honestly capture the spirit, beauty and flaws of a coin. I'm going to have Blu62vette images another 30 or so coins for me this week.
I only deal with people that are honest. I like to think my customers feel the same way.
