Honestly, I dunno... It's a little Nikon lens that seems to be auto focus only. I can't seem to control the aperture or focus with any controls on the lens. The zoom is 20-something to 50 or 60-something. I'll read the numbers off the lens tonight.
A friend and forum member borrowed the 85mm T/S lens that I normally use. With the 25mm extension tube I have on the T/S, I can't get the 3" medals in focus. I've been meaning to either remove the 25mm extension tube or use this other little lens that's been rolling around in my file cabinet. The little lens was described to me as a general purpose, shoot the family picnic lens. Since the 85mm is gone for a week, I grabbed the picnic lens and decided to give it a whirl. It seems okay.
I need to go get some different lights and play with lighting setups. I have a handful of 3" copper and bronze medals the I bought to practice shooting copper with. If I can get good photos, I'll stick them on the BST. I need to get my money back out of these things. Medals are VERY COOL, but not really what I should be collecting. Should something happen to me, I'm pretty sure my wife or kid could sell the Waitangi Crown in PCGS plastic that I posted yesterday and have a hope of realizing a fair price. But Medals? That's a more specialized field. I gotta stay focused on collecting only what can be sold latter with minimal loss.
Sorry for the ramble. I'll look up more info on the picnic lens tonight.
