Set Rating Calculation

I must be dumb a dirt. Can someone provide how the Geosits Collection (Proof Trade Dollares) with a (Weighted GPA of 64.67)and a (Completion of 46%) got a (Set Rating of 21.56).

He has the following 6 coins out of 13:
1873 PR64 - weight of 3
1875 PR64 - weight of 2
1876 PR63CA - weight of 2
1877 PR64DC - weight of 2
1878 PR64DC - weight of 2
1883 PR64 - weight of 1

Thanks,
Larry

    Popcoin:

I haven't worked it out on these coins but......

Sum of coins (Grade * weight)

Divide that number by the total weights possible.

Lets try it: 776/36 = 21% I couldn't get it to work absolutely.

Now I'm baffled as well. Did I not account for Cam or DC correctly?

  • Here's how the numbers came about:

First, the total wieght of the entire set is 36

    His set:
weight x grade = grade of coin
    3 x 64 = 192
    2 x 64 = 128
    2 x 64 = 128 (This is the PR63CA coin that got bonus of 1)
    2 x 66 = 132 (This is the PR64DC coin that got 2 bonus points)
    2 x 66 = 132 (2 bonus points)
    1 x 64 = 64
    ===========
12 776 (12 is the total weight of all his coins and 776 is the total of all the grades of his coins)

776/36 is 21.555 which rounds to 21.56 as his set rating. His weighed GPA is 776/12 which is 64.666 and rounds to 64.67.

Hope this helps to resolve the "mystery" of the set rating.

Penny, Thanks for solving the calculations for many of us who were struggling with it. You did it clear & simple. This was a great thread I learned a lot. Now if anyone out there can just give me the winning lottery number for this wednesday in California, that would be the cats wiskers .

  • You're welcome. I'm glad that it was clear. This was a nice small set to go through all the details.
