After a very long time collecting Canadian, Newfoundland, and Maritime bronze, I have finally decided to work on the New Brunswick silver. I liked the toning and look of this one that I picked up in the TOREX auction.

At TOREX I also picked up the single PCGS coin (I had an 1894 cent in ICCS 64RB) that I needed to complete my Newfoundland one cent set. Now looking for those pesky upgrades.

I think Rob is starting to tone with age LOL.

    Very nice pick up!

Did you ever wonder at the notion that toning often adds to the value of old silver coins, but almost always detracts from the value of old bronze coins?

It is a paradox isn't it?

I know it's hard to tell from such small images, but that coin looks like a serious upgrade candidate to me... very nice!

    CP,

Based on strike (one of the strongest I have seen), wear, and luster I would agree with you. It does have a shallow hit on the cheek that I think held it back. All in all I thought it a very nice coin and PCGS has only graded 5 finer.

    Rob,
New Brunswick's silver coins are a pain to try & find.I have got a New Brunswick 1862 20c. coin that I picked up a few years ago off someone in the trade over here in New Zealand.

That's an amazing 10c. coin that you've got there.

Have you thought about joining up here?

    Aidan.
