Here is a nice Portuguese medal depicting the Portuguese landing in Japan in 1543. Bronze, 80mm - real hefty

Looks like they used their pants as life preservers back in those day.

I agree that those pantaloons look hilarious - and ridiculous
Wayne - yep, this is an ebay grab - I have found that the Portuguese ebay sellers have been excellent in all transactions.
These medals are hefty fellows , that's for sure.
