In their investigation of Roger Clemens on perjury charges, federal authorities found the residue of performance-enhancing substances on drug paraphernalia that Clemens' former trainer alleged he injected the pitcher with, the New York Times reported late Monday.
The newspaper, citing "people briefed on the case," reported that this discovery could help support the allegations of the trainer, Brian McNamee, who said the syringes, vials and gauze pads that he turned over to the authorities were used while injecting Clemens with steroids and human growth hormone.
This report comes more than a month after federal prosecutors found that tests linked Clemens' DNA to blood in syringes with which McNamee claimed to have used to inject the pitcher nearly 40 times with steroids and human growth hormone from 1998-2001. Clemens has said he permitted McNamee to inject him with vitamin B-12 and lidocaine, which could account for the DNA in the syringes.
The Times reported that Clemens' lawyers are "expected to question" the authenticity of the evidence. Clemens' lead lawyer, Rusty Hardin, told the Times on Monday night that he wasn't surprised by the findings.
"Do you really think McNamee was going to fabricate this stuff and not make sure there were substances on there?" Hardin said. "The fact is Roger never used steroids or HGH."
Federal prosecutors are trying to determine whether to indict Clemens on charges that he lied to Congress when he denied during testimony in 2008 that he had used steroids.

"So, you claim that you took the needles and swabs after injecting Mr. Clemens, stuffed them into empty beer cans, packed into ziplock bags, and then let them sit untouched, for about 8 years, until the Feds knocked on your door?"
All that guy had to do was take a normal Clemens needle and put traces of PED's on it after he injected him. THat is all the defense will have to say.

IF THE GLOVE DOESN'T FIT, YOU MUST ACQUIT!
I wouldn't be too concerned, I doubt Clemens is up at nights worrying about what I might think about his situation.
FanOf390,
I wouldn’t worry too much. Michigan posts threads pretty much all day. Apparently he hasn’t had a job for the last year (or has no life).
His punishment will come during HOF voting.
Bonds will get out of his too.
All these guys, Bonds, Clemens, PUJOLS...are on them. They were workout monsters working out five hours a day. The culture of MLB is PED's.
I am just worried about the Pujols guys, because it seems they can't talk about him without their pants around their ankles.
My job is to keep you informed about important things in the world of sports, otherwise you would know nothing.
Right! Michigan, I will give you credit for being a die-hard board member. However, you strictly post articles from ESPN and SI. I would hardly call that keeping me “informed” about important things in the world of sports. Do you not have an opinion, or are you just a conduit for other media? If so, please find a new place to stalk.
