President Ford Signed Bicentennial Coins

Can anyone share some history with me concerning these coins? Is it true that the first three sets were given to President Ford? Is it true that set number 4 of 150 was auctioned off during the signing? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance,
Jayne

I attended a gathering with my son in Palm Springs a few years back where Pres. Ford and the (3) designers of the (3) denominations of the 1976 coinage were present (and signing the PCGS coins as I recall). It was quite a thrill for both Justin and myself when Pres. Ford put his arm around "little Justin" (now 17) and I snapped a picture of the (2) of them.

The Press was there so you can probably dig to find the story on this gathering.

Ford also signed $50 Proof Gold Eagles as I know I did place one of those in Justin's collection.

  • Thank you for sharing your story with me. That must have been something special for the both of you to share. I don't have the 50 dollar cold coin but I do have a set of the bicentennial coins he signed. Thanks again, Jayne

Ah, the link won't post right and it won't let me edit it. Go to Google and search "bicentennial ford signed coins" and the link to the Coin World will be near the top of the results.
