Vlad older than his listed birthdate...

According to Rotoworld Vlad has admitted to being 34, instead of his listed age of 33. There are no specified dates, and it could be that he is 22 months older, thus only the move of one digit in his age.

There is the possibility that he really is two plus years older.

Any player born south of the border is of question to their true age. We have seen Furcal and Tejada being older. I think everyone figures that Pujols is two years older than listed(except maybe Fandango...which he probably won't admit because it may hurt his marriage pursuit of him).

Many take this lightly, but two years is a big difference when a player starts hitting that mid 30's range. Keep this in mind when projecting some of these guys career totals when 'investing' in their cards. I say 'investing' because in light of the PED's(and other reasons), it probably isn't wise to invest in any of them.

So what your saying is Pujols is much older as well?

    ( I agree )
  • Ya, even when he played for Les Expos many thought he was at least 1-2 years older than he admitted, just tracing back his history. Sad to hear this, but it does explain a little his larger drop in production last year from the previous.
And yes, many believe Pujols is actually 3 or 4 years older than suggested. He's still unbelievable, but his career may decline like Vlad's a little quicker than anticipated.

unless pujols started lying about his age when he was in middle school (which he had no reason to do) every year of his baseball life is well known from age 12....only reason kids that young change age is to qualify for little league , which pujols never did...

just because he is bald people think he is old.....looks young to me!

only thing hater can try to hang a hat on "hes not that age" you sound like a third grader when you make this argument...

hoopster, why didnt you just start a thread (again)" i dont think pujols is his age" ..thats your goal isnt it hater?

I thought Vlad was older than 34, seems like he's been around forever.
  • Fandango, I don't have any goal intended for Pujols. The dude is a guy who in miracle fashion went from non-prospect, to one of hte best hitters in MLB in just over two years...hmmm. That is the LARGEST performance spike in this era. Larger than Brady Anderson's, larger than Bonds. Looks like slam dunk PED use to me.

His age is a question. Live with it.

    He may still marry you.

If Pujols is significantly older than he says he is, and has been on PED's for most of his adult life (or at least, since 1999), then why hasn't he gone down with a significant PED related injury?

You don't have to go down with an injury with PED use. Besides, he has a bad elbow.

What he has done is have the LARGEST performance spike in the history of this era. In the process of that spike his body underwent a transformation.....Hmmmm.

    Winpitcher, that is funny!

Edited to add for Fandango. I speak it as it is. When ridiculous comparisons were made comparing Ryan Howard to Pujols, I spoke it like it is(in favor of Pujols). You on the other hand, have a clear agenda...and that is to get into bed with him.
  • Performance spike? Pujols has always had triple crown numbers, from his first year to this last...I dont see it changing in the near future.
  • The performance spike was going from a non prospect BEFORE he was drafted, undergoing a body transformation(cough, cough), and then all of a sudden one of the best hitters in the game. Why would he spike during his MLB career when he is doing something from day one?

That could not be further from the truth. Pujols never underwent some great body transformation. He has been great ever since he was in high school, on into junior college, while leading his teams to titles everywhere he has played.

Read the article, and further educate yourself, instead of repeating the same old moronic rant you pound out every time the words Albert Pujols is mentioned in a sentence. I do believe Pujols' former coaches/managers and the opponents' coaches/managers know far better than yourself, as to what great talent Pujols has had all along.

You can see you are wrong, hoopster

    * My younger brother is bald as Pujols, and he was born 1/1/80. He is a little over 2 weeks older than Pujols, and I know for a fact that he has never done any type of sports activity, let alone peds/steroids. Male pattern baldness is often genetic, and very common in society. In high school, one of my best friends was bald by the time we graduated. It happens..

  • << <i>Performance spike? Pujols has always had triple crown numbers, from his first year to this last...I dont see it changing in the near future. >>

Hoopster likes to talk out his rear. There has never been a performance spike by Pujols. His numbers have been the most consistent of any player since he came into the league in 2001. Some folks just have so much animosity for Pujols and his greatness, that it becomes their obsession to trash him on message boards, even though they don't even know what they are truly talking about.
  • StanTheMan, Here is a quote from your man love artificial article....

“His work ethic,” said his longtime friend, trainer and former coach at Maple Woods Community College, Chris Mihlfield. “No one could keep up with him during one of his workouts. No one!”

Mihlfield declined a recent request by a reporter to take an area high school player through a Pujols workout.

“That would be dangerous,” Mihlfield says. “I don’t want to get anybody hurt.”

Mihlfield said an area coach attempted the Pujols workout and couldn’t get out of bed the next day. For 30 to 40 hours a week, Pujols fine tunes a body that defies the imagination."

Those are the same sentiments the Barry Bonds backers used..."nobody worked harder." Steroids help you recover quick so you can work out like that for five hours a day. That article is even more fuel to the fire, thanks for solidifying that he was on PED's from day one.

WOW! Albert's "personal trainer, mentor and confidant" had glowing things to say about his meal ticket?!? Sounds just like Brian McNamee, before the Feds came over.

Pujols lied about his age and took PEDs. This is proven by his inability to stay healthy for a full season, loss of body mass, and bald head.

  • Stown, you hit the nail on the head. It is a total fluff piece with the agenda to promote Pujols being clean.

Aside from the FIVE hour a day PED enhanced workouts, they talk about his legendary high school play. Two things stick out about that.

    1) When you are 20 years old playing against 17 & 18 yr olds, you tend to have an advantage.

    2) If he were so legendary, then he should have been drafted in the first round. A side note is that PED are used among high school athletes too.

It does sound like McNamee before he turned on Rog.

It also sounds like Tony Larussa talking about Mark McGwire. Hey StanTheMan(the clown), who would know more about Mark McGwire than Tony Larussa? Yet Larussa always maintained that McGwire did no PED's. Total B.S. just like you and this fluff piece you promote.

Bottom line, he lied about his age, took PED's from the get go, and people fawn all over him and tout him as some sort of god. He isn't any different than Barry Bonds, McGWire, Sosa, etc...
  • Some clowns just keep posting lies and false information in this thread. I'm not sure if it's from mere stupidity, or just outright animosity. The obsession with making up things on Pujols continues.... Oh well, I guess it gives you haters something to do.image

Loss of body mass, stown? When did this happen? Pujols' body looks the same today, as he has from day one. I have watched every game of his MLB career, literally, in person or on FSN. You must not let your beloved Astros bitterness get in the way.

Pujols isn't natural. I'm convinced of that now.

While I'm not sure of the extent of it, it's one of the following two things:

    1) Albert Pujols is an advanced robot, sent from the future to play baseball and break records in today's world. Part of an insidious plot by robots of the future to speed up the domination of humanity by robots. That's why he's so good; he's a machine. In fact, one of his nicknames, according to baseballreference.com, is "The Machine." "El Hombre" is also one of his nicknames, obviously a self-produced cover, as Pujols wants you to believe that he is a "man."

    2) Albet Pujols is a series of clones. Every year, St Louis Cardinal scientists download the memories of the previous Pujols clone into a new clone, and release that clone onto the fields. Grown in vats of human growth hormones and enhanced with electrostimulation and steroids, each Pujols clone is released onto the field with the memories and experiences of the previous Pujols clone, but without the injuries. The elbow injury was actually a genetic flaw in the cloning process that they couldn't fix. They think they've gotten it worked out though. So, Pujols isn't older than he says he is, he's younger. No Pujols clone is allowed to exist for longer than 1 year.

  • StanTHeman,

I think the thing getting in your way is some sort of blind love. Love is blind I guess.

Pujols's 5 hour per day work outs...hmmm. Sounds like Barry Bonds and his backers before the truth came out.

Pujols's age. You think there is no incentive to lie about that in middle school/high school? If Pujols is a talented baseball player when he first comes to the U.S., then it certainly is beneficial to say you are only 16 instead of 18. Add some PED's to the mix, whammo.

Stan, you tout this fluff piece, and that is all it is. The dude was on PED's from day one.

  • How about prove your wild exaggerations, hoopster? Come back with some facts to support your nonsense, and we might be able to take you seriously. You sure do have quite some imagination, I will give you that. You see, the world is full of people like you who can falsely accuse with NO hint of proof to back ANY of your vast amount of accusations.. A person can make up anything about anyone. It would be like me asking you if you still beat your wife. Even if innocent, it stains your rep, and there is nothing that can be done to recover your rep.. I think you see where I'm going with this..
  • StanTHeMan,

Mr. Pujols comes from a culture of liars...that culture is professional baseball players. That culture partakes in widespread PED use, and then outright lies about any involvement in such endeavors...until they are caught red handed or the whistle is blown on them. Then they 'admit' to unknowingly taking them.

Mr. Pujols's trainer has already said that he works out five hours a day, every day...just like Barry Bonds. This is typically possible with PED use so recovery and building can occur. He has large muscles, and again, most importantly the culture he is involved in has widespread use in such behavior.

There is also GREAT motive to partake in the use of PED, and that is money and glory.

You likened it to me being accused of wife beating. If I were to routinely bring my wife to parties where 85% of the people beat their wives at that party(and I continued to frequent the party and never say anything about it), then serious questions should be raised about my partaking in such behavior. If there are marks on my wife, or on my hand...and even though nothing was witnessed, then further scrutiny should be raised to a very high degree.

In light of all of this, there is VERY reasonable cause to suspect Mr. Pujols. You think that is crazy, but it is far more crazy to defend his non use in such a manner as you or that other nut job Fandango do.

Keep in mind that ALL these things I am saying, were said about Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire before they were proven to have taken them. All the things you have said defending Pujols were used as a defense for those guys as well. Even Tony Larussa defended McGwire! Same for all the other players who have known to have taken them.

I would like to see Mr. Pujols undergo all the most advanced BLOOD testing, allow his samples to be kept for future doping finds, and promote the same for the players association. Until he and others go on this crusade, then he is part of the culture of LIARS, and he(and his crazy lovers) will have to live with reasonable suspicion of PED use.

StanTheMan, it is time for you to grow up and stop idolizing these guys as if you were 12 years old.

If the moron is referring to Pujols having a bigger rump/legs in that 2004 NLCS pic, it was because he was a bit more chubby back then. He has worked hard at trying to manage his weight, per his own admission. Anyone who truly knows anything about Pujols, knows he has battled his weight all of his life. The body type is the same, just a few pounds of chub. Heck, he still has a pot belly.

This is a picture from 2006 in Chicago:

Liar, hypocrite, drama queen, flip flopper, and now a switch hitter.

    Good for you! >>

There is a line to draw with the nonsense on here. When you start the insinuating of being queer and such, Carol needs to step in. It's one thing to disagree, but the personal attacks on this board have continue to get lower and lower..

I tell you what, come visit me, and say this same stuff to my face. If you do, I will be in jail. I can guarantee you that you would not get away with this crap face to face. I assure you of that. Of course, smart mouths like you mouth all day long on the internet. You don't have the balls to show up and do it to my face. >>

Oooooh, StanTheCrossDressingLittleGirlieMan is threatening me with physical violence. I'm scared! Someone, please hold me..

You can't guarantee poop, you little baby. Cry to Carol all you want because ain't nothing going to come from it. Well, other than pissing her off but please, feel free to fill up her PM box.

As for your threats, bring them on to Houston. My weekends are kinda booked due to training for the MS 150 in April. In fact, I'm riding 70 on Saturday and 70 on Sunday. Bet you couldn't even go 5 miles without needing medical assistance.

PS - Pujols juiced and lied about his age. Just accept the facts and get over it.
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

I can see how you can argue over the steroids, but the age? What "facts" can you use asside from "others lied."

There are several murderers from my home town. Does that make me a murderer as well?

There's a big difference between several and what's considered common knowledge. Maybe our perspectives differ.. But I personally know people working in the region and it's just accepted.

But you're right... I cannot say with 100% absolute, positive fact he's older than claimed.

Region? The D.R. or where Pujols went to HS and college?

If he was one of those guys who spent time on one of those D.R. baseball farms, then I'd understand, but he didn't take that route into the US, he moved here, went to school for a few years, then got into pro baseball.

The reasons for lying about your age for atheltics applies to education as well. Do you want to be equal/below or ahead of your "peers"?

    Same concept, same results.

If one of the residents of your town who is immersed in murders says that about 85% of your residents are murderers...and investigations are starting to show that he is pretty accurate, AND if you are walking around with a gun, I would say YES, chances are you are a murderer.

My question was about the age issue. Is this responce regarding the age issue as well? If so, what's the "gun" in Pujols' age case?
