generic double eagle prices exploding

pcgs price guide

$1500 for low graded stuff and over $1600 for AU. $2000+ in MS62

Is the shortage of gold forcing these prices higher?

As a guideline, not an absolute

    The trend clearly points higher

Agree. I would recommend not buying double eagles right now since their premium over melt is excessively high.

The same could be said for common modern bullion eagles, if you could find them. I think the lack of modern stuff is forcing people to buy what they can, and all that is available is pre-1933 generic stuff. Could make things interesting if this continues and increases
