Pleasant olive green toning with golden yellow colors about the borders, somewhat pastel and thoroughly enjoyable to view. Subtle golden tones on the reverse
Lloyd, that is an outstanding 1882-S, with rainbow bands all the way through 2nd cycle green and into deep purple, with pull-away effect at the stars to boot!!
In my new toning classification system to be unveiled here soon (comments welcome on the TCCS Board in the Toned Coins area), the obverse of Lloyd's 1882-S would be classified as a rare and desirable AW (toning ranging all the way from light gold to 3rd cycle deep purple), while the reverse would be AF (toning from light gold to cobalt blue). The whole coin would then be designated AW/AF.
My 1892-CC above would be classified EH on the obverse (burgundy in the recesses of the portrait, through pale mint green), while the reverse would be classified as FJ (cobalt blue through sunset yellow). The whole coin is then EH/FJ. Watch for more details on this system soon !!
eyoung's two 1886 obverses are BG (medium gold to cyan) and HJ (pale mint green to sunset yellow).
