Gimp program has been installed, but I still need assistance

A couple of days ago I inquired on the forums about a program that would allow me to put two pictures side by side in the same frame. I'm wanting to do this for my coins , obverse/reverse. The Gimp program was mentioned and I installed it on my computer (free download) and now I can do just about anything with my pictures except, get them side by side. I'm sure that the Gimp program is capable of doing this but I dont know how. If someone has time to explain I would be grateful.

You want help with Gimp? Ha ha ha ha ha!

Sorry for the laughter, but Gimp is for the l33t.

Perhaps someone else here can help.

I am contractually obligated to laugh.

Okay...generally speaking, you make your photo A canvas twice as wide as you need for one photo. Then copy/paste photo B into your photo A document, which is now wide enough to hold both of them. Drag photo B to one side of Photo A. Now you have them side by side in the same document window. Use separate layers for adjusting the photos separately.
