Help with finding a baseball HOF book

OK, the HOF-guessing thread got me thinking about this book I had as a kid.

The book covered the baseball Hall of Fame and had a profile of every player elected up through sometime in the late 1970s. I wanna say 1979, but possibly earlier. Definitely before 1980 as Al Kaline was not included.

It was a regular novel-size paperback and had a gold cover. Came in a slipcase with at least 2, possibly 3, other sports-related books. I don't recall their being baseball books. If they were, I likely would have read them.

Does this jog ANY memories at all?

If they published an updated version, that could be the right one. The one in the auction is from 1965 - much older than the one I had as a kid.

I had the same book in a '73 or '74 version, same cover art. I'll bet that's it, you just had a newer one.

I've always had luck buying books on half.com

When you track down the book you want, check over there.
  • This is the book that I had as a kid and I loved it. It's probably why I grew to love baseball's history so much and ended up collecting cards all my life.
