I got a nice slabbed coin in the mail the other day and it had a fancy printed sticker on the back..

........with the dealers name, address, phone number, etc. This was nothing unusual since many dealers follow this practice. I find it irritating and I removed it immediately. At the time, I wondered if most collectors feel this way so I thought I would ask how many of you like to keep these printed dealer stickers on their slab and how many of you remove them?

I remove them all, even the cool ones. I put my own stickers on the back. Usually one sticker to indicate the die marriage and another sticker to indicate who sold it to me and the price I paid.

I just ignore them they get tossed after I hammer the plastic to smithereens.
  • I remove them.

I've developed my own code for putting on slabs. It's a series of numbers that indicates the month and year I bought the coin, the venue I bought it in, and the price I paid. It comes in very handy.

I take them off immediately. The price is on the sticker, and Mrs. L. would beat me like a dog if she saw the price.

I remove them! Hate 'em! They tend to destroy the hologram on the back of the slab though...

I like to place the fancy-smancy high end dealer decals found on the classic, true numismatic PCGS slabs and stick them on the back of say, a PCI PR67 CAM State quarter and pass it around.

Then again, I'm easily amused and will snicker at almost anything.

For me they come off pretty quick. I just hate the ones that also take part of the PCGS hologram with it.

I photographed one collection that had tags on all the holders, it was kind of cool to see where they all came from.

I remove them and replace them with my own sticker showing how much I paid (sorry Longacre but I took control of my marriage image ) and the date it was purchased along with my name, address and phone number in case it ever gets lost.

Just kidding on the stickers...I take them off and use Goo Gone for the residue. Interesting though when you buy a coin from a dealer and it has another dealers sticker on it...

How much do you guys hate peeling off the decal off the back of an older NGC slab only to have most of the silver NGC sticker also come off?

Makes the back of the slab look awful.

I agree with the Irish guy. They get tossed out along with the plastic.

I enclose a business card with the slab rather than a sticker. When I get a coin with a sticker I remove it and carefully clean the slab before selling it. --Jerry

Would this sticker on the back of a slab bother you?

If you put a little Googone on the sticker and let it sit for a while, most stickers come off easy with damage to the holograms. A little WD40 will also work. Just don't soak the slab since you don't want any to get inside the slab.

Not in the least since it's informative and a positive addition to the slab.

No, great cataloging technique though. But with the seller's info., wouldn't this be a great way to get around all those buyer's and seller's fees if someone might have a few additional coins for your collection? At least write it down somewhere. It just might come in handy once it dawns on a few of you of the possibilities. image

When I buy a coin I remove all stickers. Then I get rid of the glue residue before I put on my own stickers.
I collect Capped Bust series by variety in PCGS AU/MS grades.
