Need help editing pictures to be side by side

I have several obverse/reverse coin pictures that I would like to have in the same frame instead of two different pictures. Can this be accomplished without having a program like Photoshop?

Photoshop Elements V6 for me.

Smokincoin, I'm not a real whiz when it comes to installing programs. Is the Elements V6 pretty simple to navigate your way through?

I think there is an online version of photoshop you can use.

Also try gimp, its a free opensource photo editor similar to photoshop.
