Headed to MGM Grand @ Foxwoods on Monday, any suggestions? *Returned Triumphant!*

wondering if you heathens had ventured into the new hotel.... I got a couple of nights worth of free rooms so I figured I'd check out the place for my birthday (Feb 23rd) I hear the casino is quite small....

I wonder if I can upgrade my free rooms for a suite since they are hurting for business image

Any comments on the food/restaurants?

Gracias Mi Amigos!

Nice breakfast place in the basement of Foxwoods. Good luck trying to find anything under a 20$ table.
  • seriously? $20 min bet? well we will def. walk across the bridge to foxwoods. in the mornings its $5 min bet or $10 and you can get a little card that holds that amount as long as you sit at the table.

I wish they still had "catch a wave" that was my fave game.

I go there quite a bit but no suggestions. It's all a lot of fun and all the food places are really good. There is one place that serves roast duck thats is near the center...but they arent always open. Its right next do a sandwich place. The roast duck is AWESOME! It's like a little chinese place I think....not a restaurant but an a quad area with a counter.

The $20 trick works quite a bit in Vegas. Slide a folded up $20 bill across to the front desk clerk with your credit card when you check in, mention that it's your birthday and that an upgrade would be appreciated if it's available. They will usually give you the $20 back if they can't upgrade you or have to charge for an upgrade. If you google "$20 checkin trick", you'll probably be able to find an unofficial list of hotels where it usually works at. Good luck.
  • I have returned! Trimuphant!

I upgraded my room for FREE to a Directors suite (hot tub etc) because I mentioned my birthday and the at desk super nice to boot. Free room, upgraded to a better room. bonus!

Kinda hung out and checked out the casino, shops and restaraunts in the new place; strolled over to Foxwoods side (10 minute walk or so) for Dinner at Cedars... absolutely dead on Monday night; very few people there, all the shops closed early.

Hit the slots for a bit and lost $50, then wandered the tables looking for a place to sit and play Spanish 21, alas could not find a seat. So for no good reason I planted myself at a Roulette table with on other guy playing; he seemed to be raking in the cash. I had not played roulette in about 9 years and its not a game usually even think about. but what the hell!

got $50 in chips to start and min bet was $10. Didnt play any single numbers just groups of 4 or in between 2 of my favorites. I kinda hovered around where the other guy was winning and rode his coattails for a bit. after I doubled my money I started playing single numbers. $3-5 per number.

I played my birthday numbers and hit twice, played my lucky number (6) and it came up twice in a row! then I played my Moms birthday and that came out (27) twice in a row. They started paying me in $25 and $100 chips and i just took those of the table and handed them to my buddy who was along for the ride... Eventually things went cold and I cashed out the $1 chips on the table (more than 200!) and we went and counted my winnings.... $900! I was kinda stunned. I said thats it. done for the night lol.

Next day we played bingo to kill a few hours, came close on 2-3 games (1 number away dammit!) then did a late lunch; hit the tables and slots. probably lost $200 on slots, but played a LONG time. My buddy retired for the night and I finally found a spanish 21 table to play. It was a cold table to start and half the folks left, dealer changed and so did the luck. started with $100 in chips, left with $550 image

Overall a 4 figure birthday gift! definitely the most money ive taken out of there in a good long time (other than when i hit a $1000 jackpot on a dollar slot machine)

waiting for my lungs and sinuses to recvoer from all the damn smoke. sadly there isnt ONE section where you can play non smoking table games. a

    Cheers!
