I just saw a segment on the TV show "History Detectives" about a coin that was supposedly shot out of the air by Annie Oakley during one of Wild Bill Cody's Wild West shows. PBS repeats their shows all the time, so if you get the chance, you'll likely enjoy the segment.
The coin was a 19th century French copper, about the size of a large cent.

Looks like an early type 5 centime from Louis Napoleon.
