New 1879-S PL Morgan

Here's a new PL morgan I picked up yesterday for $37. I didn't come out too well in the photos, but
the obverse is a dusty rose color. It's a bit hazy and could probably use a dip in the pool, but I'm going to leave it
alone. I figure it's a lock 63 grade... maybe a 64? Too many frost breaks for a dmpl I suppose.
I'd appreciate any thoughts from you guys...

Very attractive coin. I'd by that all day for $37.00!
This has got to be a textbook example of a first strike off of a re-polished die.
Maybe I'll re-shoot it again and see if they'll come out better.

Nice, probably 63PL. Is it a Jaw Cootie VAM?
Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.

Funny you mention that- Over 50% of my "nicer" 1879-S coins are indeed VAM-36's, and I was wondering the same thing. I Love the "Cootie Jaw!"

It's not the cootie jaw darnit. I just ran over to vamword & checked.
There are really visible vertical die polish lines... even inside the 8. But they are not horizontal like the pic of the cootie jaw variety.
