  • The bottom line is to inform yourself first and then buy. The ANA has some books on ancients. You may be able to find this one in the Stack's auction archives, perhaps Goldberg. It's nice, at 6k it's prob. not super rare.. it's overpriced for the marketplace it is in; so take your time. If you miss it, another will come along at some point soon(ish).

Find some auction archives to browse through, there are a ton online. For past auctions there's http://www.coinarchives.com/ and for upcoming ones http://www.sixbid.com/. And an always invaluable site for finding quality ancients, http://www.vcoins.com/. I'd recommend browsing those at least before making an impulse buy off ebay.

If you just want something ancient there is a whole lot that can be had for less than $6,000!! This is the Darkside, man!
