  • I got one of those 6's on my first submission too. Still completely baffled. However after submissions 2 and 3 I realized I just suck at grading... probably not the case for you. image

EDIT: re-read my comment... take it as a self slam nothing against you.

Oh absolutely the case for me. This is why I buy my cards already graded. I cant grade for crap.

Hey Matt ... at least it was fun sending them in, right?

matt... It will get better from here on.
  • Matt, at least this will help you get a feel for it, or it should anyway. Unless you're like me, my first sub was the best and it has been all downhill since.

I think I will stick to buying them already graded.

My first sub I sent in a 89 UD Griffey and got a 6 for some reason. I checked that card over and over and could not find a crease. I just recently cracked it out and re-sub'd it and got a 9 on the second try.

Alot of the 89 ud "weird" grades involve the back and the hologram. Alot of cards either slip through or get hammered due to missing or misaligned holograms. I had a 99 Ultimate Victory Ankiel PSA 9 that had 2 huge back creases. Due to the production process of making that set alot of those cards had them so the graders sometimes didn't downgrade.

    Good job Matt!

My first sub was pretty bad. Way worse than yours image

  • I was just looking at one of the cards I sent in for grading on my first submission and the first thing that came to my mind was "Why in the %$^ did I send this card in?" That is not uncommon....
  • The 89 Upperdeck holograms will have an affect on the grades....but it can't be that much of an affect because i saw a griffey PSA 10 with half a hologram on ebay. I also have a bunch of PSA 9's with mis aligned and not full holograms.
