Topps Vault picture of Griffey. Classic!

I came across this browsing through Topps Vault auctions. This was taken in '89 and no wonder Topps didn't use it on a card. He looks like he was cut from the team, scolded by his parents and then told his dog died all in the same day.

any pic would have been cool. Topps has no excuse for not including him in the 1989 set. they missed the boat on hot rookies soooo many times in the 80s. 792 cards not enough?

I think the airbrush under his hat was the hologram MLB sticker. Probably airbrushed out because he was not under contract with Topps yet.

I don't think MLB Licensed items (i.e hats) were "hologrammed" back in 1989.....

I don't know about that Bill.

I have a Dallas Cowboys cap Tonya got me for Christmas that still has the NFL hologram under the bill. I wear it all the time and nobody has airbrushed my hologram out.
