Sell it on the BST, best place no fees

If it is truly junk that really needs to be smelted, I would send it to midwest refiniers. They will melt it down, do an honest assay, keep a small percent, and pay you in a method of your choice.

    Check them out!

  • PT, thanks for the link. Midwest appears to be a good choice; I like their forms of payment. Another plus is their just 35-40 miles from home.
That was one of those "well I'll be darn".

No problem. I sent a bunch of scrap gold jewelry to them once. Just to make sure, i weighed it all to the gram, and then did appropriate calculations to figure out how much real gold there was. Came out to just a bit over an ounce of actual gold. I mailed it off to them, told them to give me as much in bullion as they could and a check for the balance.

In about ten days after I mailed to them, I got a package back with one Krugerrand and a check for $50. The package also contained a report that showed the total weight of my shipment, and then the results of an assay, and the calculations of what they kept for themselves and what they sent back to me.

I've never had a better experience as far as precious metal is concerned.

Thanks for the heads up. I have 6 ounces of 14k jewelry to sell. Asked around and it seems most places give you 60% of the gold value or $15 a pennyweight.
