Selig: Is he for real?

Bud Selig spouted off last night about the ARod situation. Did anyone hear his comments? He suggested that he needs to revisit the ARod situation and that punishment is not out of the question. He also mentioned that he may explore the record books and hinted at Hank Aaron being recognized as the true home run king.
Let's examine a few of these comments.
First, ARod's admission of the use of PED's, while significant, was before the implementation of MLB's collective bargaining agreements with regard to the usage of selected PED's. ARod, like all others that used, are grandfathered by the CBA. However, Selig appears to be considering ignoring the CBA, standard law practices, and the admission of others that have done the same thing.
Selig was quite visible in his attempt to ignore the accomplishments of Barry Bonds in his chase of Aaron's record. This was most evident when he litterally turned his back on Bonds when he hit #756. Selig signed off on the Mitchell Report, but failed to dole out any suspensions or sanctions based upon the prejudiced findings of the Mitchell Report. But now, he states that he's considering sanctions or penalties for ARod.
Second, as part of the Great Lakes Five, Selig was in collusion with his fellow owners to limit salaries and offers to free agents, but is perfectly fine with the fact that he has collected in excess of $36,000,000.00 in salary from the owners the past two seasons, while retaining ownership (albeit in a non-acting capacity) of the Milwaukee Brewers.
Third, how can Bud "Ford Frick" Selig even suggest consideration of amendments or changes to the record books? Does he plan to return the "asterisk" to the record books? Perhaps eliminate all records of players that HE deems guilty of using PED's?
Lastly, Selig and his fellow owners want to bemoan the current state of baseball and the widespread use of PED's, but they never did a thing while these same PED's were bringing the game back from the brink of doom during the McGwire/Sosa home run race of 1998. They didn't seem to find PED's to be enough of a concern to do anything about them while the home runs brought fans back to the ballparks in droves. Setting attendance records, buiilding new stadiums, and recording record profits were all the direct result of the players using PED's. But now, Selig wants to appear to be proactive while it is a fact that he's turned his back on the explosion of the abuses for more than a decade.
Sorry Bud, but you can't have it both ways. You can't complain about the PED's that you "allowed" by your turning a blind eye. You can't condemn the players for using substances that you and your fellow owners refused to do anything about because it was making you money hand over fist. You can't complain about the salaries the players are earning when you are making more than 95% of the players. The recent explosion of new ballparks, including two opening in New York this year at a cost of more than $2,000,000,000.00, would not have happened if not for the players being enabled by the Commisioner's Office and the MLB Players' Association to compromise the integrity of the game through the widespread usage of PED's...
Selig may come off as a baffoon, but this jackazz is dumb like a fox. He knows exactly what he's doing. He wants to appear to the unsuspecting fan like he cares about the integrity of the game, but to him and his fellow owners, it's all about the bottom line.
I'm done with my rant, so you may now return to tyour regularly scheduled programming...

Selig is the worst thing to happen to baseball EVER! I totally agree that he and his fellow owners totally enabled the use of performance enhancing substances. I wish there was some way they could be held accountable.
I think he should resign.
The whole drug scandel rests on the houlders of Selig and Fehr. How can you conciously allow the people you represent to take drugs? How can you allow the sport you are sworn to promote and protect to be sullied and tarnished like this? Both of those men should resign in disgrace. But it won't happen because you have a lot of peple who made a lot of money and in the era of Fehr/Selig, money always wins.

Amen, brother!
The example and policies shown by these 2 clowns have turned many people away from what I believe is the greatest game ever invented. Even my 8 year old son knows about A-Roid and his ilk.
Thankfully, we all can still love the game and ignore the many overpaid and juiced up brats, as well as the moron owners, that populate MLB today.

Please tell me where you are getting your information regarding Bud Selig "retaining ownership (albeit in a non-acting capacity) of the Milwaukee Brewers."
The group that owns the Brewers is headed by Mark Attanasio, an investment banker from California. Other members of the ownership group are David Lubar, John Canning Jr., David Uihlein, Harris Turer and Stephen Marcus. Now, I can tell you that John Canning Jr., David Uihlein, Harris Turer and Stephen Marcus were all part of Bud Selig's ownership group prior to him selling the franchise to Attanasio.
I can also tell you that I believe Bud Selig has exactly 0% ownership interest in the Brewers.
If you know differently, and can prove differently, I'm all ears. Until then, I'll just assume that you're spouting off with old information.

In other news, still waiting on otwcards' response.
edited to add: He must not have formed any real thoughts on his own for the original post in this topic. He must have been repeating whatever he's heard over the past number of years without actually doing any research.
It shows. Your silence speaks volumes at backing up your story. Makes me wonder how much of the rest of your rant is worth reading.
Maybe you should revise your initial rant to only the things you can support since you can't respond to the simplest of challenges to your "information".

I have always hated Louisiana. They have a crappy school with an a-hole for a coach. I once drove around Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama to get to Florida.

Yet another bump requesting otwcards's sources for rumors, halftruths and other innuendo.

It seems as though rather than coming here and admitting his mistake(s), he's going to take the "high road" and not reply.
It's typical of him. When his "facts" are challenged, he says he's going to throw in the towel and watch us dance as he runs away with his tail between his legs. After all, it's beneath him to actually stand behind his own comments.
I guess we can all learn something from this. ALWAYS take otwcards and his rants for what they're worth...
Scott's word...huh
