ESPN is reporting that Brett Favre sent an e-mail Ed Werder indicating that he will soon inform the New York Jets that he is retiring from professional football after 17 years. While there are sure to be questions throughout the entire offseason about whether this is finally it, Favre seems to be, once again, convinced that he has played his last game.

I'm glad he's done. His image is tarnished in my opinion for quitting on the Packers, only to come back with the Jets.

The difference this year is that the Jets will move on without any guilt as soon as they get that letter. He's DONE with the Jets if he announces.

I think better he had taken the $20m from the Packers to retire and become their spokeperson, or whatever front office job they were offering. I heard he had serious heartburn over someone high up in the Packer's organization, which kept him from taking the deal.

He'll still make the HOF, he's done a lot in 18 years and holds many records I believe.

"Expect" him to be signed around mid-season by some team...just a question of when. If McNabb goes down it could be by the Eagles...I'm not kidding.
