2008-D MS68FB Business Strike Roosie...

Lets give Paul Gunsallus (Stooge) a big hand. He just made only the second MS68FB business strike coin since the Satin Finish coins came on the scene. Thats right only two in 68FB business strike in four years to date.

Wow! With the average quality improved so much it's easy to forget the nicest examples might not be any easier.

    Congrats Stooge.

That is very cool. I know of no one who loves Roosie's more than Paul. Maybe a few love them as much ... but no one more!

Don't think you would find one of them in those 1000 sets

Shoudn't i find a 68 in 1,000 sets? Yes, but not with what they have been giving me lately. I'm goin back to NGC as i just pulled 6 orders from them. They only really want to grade bullion and proof right now it seems

Edited to add: this happens every year, you think i would figure it out. Times are slow in December and they loosen way, way up and then january hits and they disscourage that sort of submission because they would rather grade bullion.

    Mark,

Who is they? NGC or PCGS? They are equally tough right now!

Erwindoc, what coins from experience are pcgs and ngc equal in terms of grading difficulty right now?

Roosevelt dimes. Neither service is handing out lots of full torch or full band designations. Also, both services are being extra tough on grading standards right now.

Erwindoc, it seems that PCGS has been inconsistent on the FB desig throughout the years from inception. The junk they let through in the early days brings down the value of several issues since they changed mid-stream. I do agree with their perception of what a full band coin is currently and they are way, way undervalued in many cases IMHO. Not sure where NGC is but an interesting note is that I cracked many presidential satin finish coins out of pcgs 68sf holders and they came back from NGC in 68 or 67 holders and not one upgrade. They are out of their minds. As far as other denoms, i will see soon. I predict better grades from NGC as PCGS is out of touch, since all they grade is bullion and other large pretty coins.image

I don't get it. Everyone says PCGS is tough with FB's. I have never had a problem with them on the designation. Just wish I could pull a couple of 67's though. Have no clue what happen on the 64. I must have been blind. I have 13 more roosevelts at PCGS right now. We will see how they do. Two of them were wishers for sure.

and here is the other submission for roosevelts. The 52S grade really suprises me. I thought this was the best coin of the batch. Will take a good look and see what I missed when it gets back.
