Hello Everyone,
I just recently sold the Don Dolga Collection of Washington quarters, #5 all-time finest, to Mitch Spivack, aka wondercoin. The transaction was very smooth, courteous, and professional. Mitch is a CLASS ACT!!!!
I'm sure we'll be doing more business in the future, he needs to get the cash back from me.
The majority of coins in this set are VERY nicely toned and you can see them on the registry site. Mitch and I will try to keep the pictures listed for about 30 days, so everyone can check out any quarters they may be interested in.
Some things to be aware of. I've kept 3 of the coins, for now anyway, and I might sell them at a later date. They are: 46-P, 49-P & 62-P. All coins except those 3 will be available from Mitch.
A few other notes: the 32-S listed in 64 is now in a 65 holder, and the 48-D in 66 was replaced by a 48-D in 67 with EXCEPTIONAL toning. I couldn't get it registered because PCGS has it recorded in their database as a 50 cent piece. That will be corrected by Mitch. I also upgraded some of the 67 coins with better looking ones, so some of the pictures will not be accurate, and I believe those dates are: 40-P, 37-P, and and additional 36-S with some very pretty toning.
Also, I have many duplicates some toned, some not, of the more common dates. Feel free to PM me with any needs. If they don't sell here, I'll post them on Ebay.
Why did I decide to sell? Well, I felt I was at a crossroad with my set, to upgrade with anything of quality would mean an expenditure between $1000-$3000 and possibly more. That would be cost prohibitive for me. That money will be better served in my newest collecting venture.
Have I quit collecting? No way. Once you start collecting, it's very difficult to stop, IMHO . So, I'm moving on to another area, but keeping it secret for now.
Again, I can't thank Mitch enough, for all his help in this process.
And last but not least.....is anybody going to the Baltimore show in March?

I've only completed one set in my life. I haven't sold it so don't know what it would be like to start fresh on another set.
Speaking of "class acts", well, you all know Don and for those who might not, I guess you can meet him in Baltimore!
Don assembled a magnificent set of Mint State Washington Quarters, including several very low pop finest known coins and some of the prettiest pieces out there. Don's set had been #1 on the Registry for a while and, no question, Don could have regained that top spot if he wanted to. But, I totally understand Don's decision to pursue his newest endeavor.
Interestingly, around this time last year, I had the opportunity to purchase Registrycoin's ALL TIME #1 Mint State Silver Washington Quarter set, what is now John Benbow's ALL TIME #3 set and many of the key coins from Richard Green's ALL TIME #1 (TIED) set. I do not believe any of these collectors, like Don, sold because they felt the (modern) Wash. quarter market would "crash", but, in every case, for personal reaons (like Don mentioned here). I've been holding on to these pieces from all of the sets with the exception of assisting a collector or two privately with assembling a set. Other than placing some coins privately with a collector from Don's set, right now I intend to hang on to most of these coins as well, unless a forum member is interested in a particular coin from Don's set (you can PM me) which I might be able to sell. I also picked up some doubles from Don, so you may see some of the Dolga coins on ebay.
In any event, thanks Don as well for a very smooth transaction.
Wondercoin.
Turning loose of a completed, and in your case an awesome set, is tough.
It was not only a fine set of quarters but inspired me to start imaging the coins in my sets. Thanks for sharing.
Best of luck with your new collecting adventure.
