Wisconsin Quarters. High leaf, Low leaf were any found in..

Hi, I have bought many p/d mint rolls of statehood quarters from the Mint. My question today is has any of the Wisconsin varietys been found in the MINT issue rolls from the U.S. mint site?

I am going to sell some on ebay. I was wondering if I had a chance at some highs/lows varietys if they were ever found in those rolls. thanks.

None have been reported from these rolls and it's most improbable there are any.

Thanks CLadking. I always thought there weren't any in those rolls. If I remember they were in Fla,Georgia, Texas. Again thanks. George
  • My wife and I found none in the Mint rolls we had ordered and had on hand. However, the rolls my wife picked up at B of A in Arizona yielded several of the varieties. image

HaYa, IMH knowledge, no WI extra leaf quarters have been found in: Mint Rolls, $25 & $250 Mint Bags. None found in GA nor FL bank rolls unless a few coins drifted eastward from say Texas. Comments are welcomed... CladKing, "A thought" simply because Bob Ford discovered the WI Extra Leaf Varieties in early Dec, 2004 and not trying to take anything away from a most likeable and kind gentleman (Bob Ford), I have reason to suspect that a quantity of WI quarter boxes/rolls that contained Extra Leaf coins had been distributed by the San Antonio, Tx Branch Fed to various South Texas banks "Before" being discovered in Tucson, AZ in 12/04. I appreciate all of Bob Ford's, Rick Snow's and Rob Weiss's efforts to inform fellow coin collectors early on about these valuable and unusual variety statehood quarters. If Bob had not been so generous to share his find with the numismatic world, then most of the rare coins would have been subject to wear in the general circulation for years. Here in the SA, Tx area few if any WI variety coins are showing up anymore.

Even if there had been substantial numbers in circulation, which there weren't,
the coins would be getting pretty widely dispersed by now. Well over half should
have left the release areas by now.

There's still a very small chance that there are some in storage. Typically the odds
would be virtually zero by now but because of the way the states coins are released
there is probably still about 1% of production remaining in storage. The odds are
that not a single coin will be in these but there could be substantial numbers. Pro-
bably there's less than a 1% chance more will turn up from the FED considering that
stored coins are more likely in areas that aren't increasing coinage demand and these
areas don't include the regions they were released.

There is still a discrepancy between the numbers reported and mint estimates of the
numbers made but the mint is not good at these estimations usually.

It's always great when these finds get reported early but they don't get into as many
    hands.

I still think these will be a real long term winner and are among the most interesting
coins of the last 100 years.

I agree with you that they are very interesting coins and continue to hold quite a few myself including one ANACS graded 67 high leaf and a bunch of 66's. I don't know how long I will hold these but have not given thought to selling them yet.

I can't even get a Wisconsin regular quarter in circualation. At least here in Maryland.
  • Here in South Carolina, I've searched about $500 worth of circulated bank rolls and may have found $2 worth of Wisconsin quarters.

The WI "D" statehood quarter was not a high mintage coin compared to most "D" minted statehood quarters. How many WI "D" Blemished Denver Quarters were destroyed by the Denver Mint back in late 2004 once the Extra High Leaf quarter was discovered ? How many statehood quarter collectors are simply hoarding WI coins thinking that they may have a rare and valuable Extra Leaf Variety ? Common BU rolls of WI D quarters even from supposedly mint bags are commanding a decent premium on the Bay now. How many years will the Numismatic World have to wait for the Denver Mint to "Come Clean" and admit that the WI Extra Leaf coins were in fact an intentional variety and did or did not have the USM blessings ? So much for Mr. Potter's and many error club member's simply "die gouge on the coin press" theory. Life goes on and so does the offical coverup !! Have a great day collecting coins.

  • I have not found any WI varieties in all the small and large D mint bags ever.
