Registry is a powerful thing... but this powerful?

So when I was a kid I collected 1975 topps. Recently getting back into collecting I decided to take it back up again and have built (what I think is) a pretty respectable start. (the start). What's funny is I believed my childhood collection was so much better shape then it ended up... hence the 7s and 8s above masking the hundreds and hundreds I didn't submit; but largely I was hoping to put together 9s.
Now I figured the set will take me a good amount of time to build as 9s and I'm very cool with that. However, holy crap... Nolan Ryan. Now I know about rarity and I know several in the past year have sold in the mid $2k range but for that amount of money there's an awful lot of impressive and more historically collectible cards out there that same amount of money could buy.
So while it's easy to not chase ridiculous prices on commons this is one HOF that may elude my set. I'm sorry this happened to me, but how one card out of 660 is more than 2x the price of any other (Aaron #660 in PSA 9) seems really, really wild. Maybe after I make my first million.

You have Pittfan speechless!!
I just wonder what the first PSA 10 Robin Yount rookie will sell for.
VERY hard when it comes to the 1975 set since the borders are very colorful and easily
damaged in the slightest fashion.
I am glad you are having fun with the set. Gosh, I wish I had the patience to put this set together !!
A classic for sure.
Good luck.

It still blows me away when I see stuff like that. If I blow $3k on a card, it's going to be for a HoFer rookie card.
