Wow, thanks Spooly! I guess those weights for Red are kicking in.

I'm glad I'm almost done, considering how the Lincoln prices are going! I found out from David Lawrence that Bill's 1914-D MS65Rd sold "like that" at Long Beach, for $11,500.

    Really appreciate it! imageimage

Heritage can't be dissapointed in the prices realized for this auction. They made a small fortune.Congrats on #5.

  • David--

The set withdrawal is in, it just hasn't been validated. Maybe tomorrow.

David I think you will still have a lock on the 5th spot even after the weighting is changed. Your Red set will Max points. The guys that are within striking range of the top 5 with RB's are going to be pissed! image

  • Congrats David! Are you going to stick with it and upgrade as you can or give it up and move on?

For all, does the pedigree benefit apply to both Current Finest and All-Time Finest Sets or just All-Time? Doesn't really spell it out in the Registry.

    Thanks, Dave

Pedigree Benefit goes to the Current Finest Top 5.

  • I'm slowly converting to Red, but its hard finding the nice ones, then I spooly passing me in the large cents, then a couple of new sets started in the half cents!! I might have to declare bankruptcy when this is all over! Congrats to again to DPOOLE (don't slack off, I'll be right behind you). Maybe a few of Bill's and Joe's cents will put the preasure on Dave but that 14D will kill me. Great coin!!

Don't let Keyrock BS you! His Large cents score is TWICE that of mine! Keyrock has some great MS coins! I just have 2 more coin, so the % complete bumped him.

Unlike my Lincoln Cents the Large Cent set is a circulated set that is color matched.
I don't care what the grade is as long as it's PQ for the grade and the color matches. (Yes I will downgrade to get a better color match) It's my fun set! But is has been the hardest thing to collect bar none! Color matching PQ old copper is a nightmare!

Bill has graciously reliquished his stangle-hold. I'm now in 5th!

Bill was like Gengis Khan: he swept in out of nowhere, kicked everybody's butt, then rode off in a cloud of dust! I'll be watching his empire consolidate in the sets he kept, though!

As for my Lincolns, my plan now is to finish the set. Then--I don't know. I've got some PQs in the set that I think are undergraded, and I may do that pedigree-cum-grading review like Bill did with his SLH set (that's helpful news, Bill. I didn't know they did that). Mike Sadler (#4) is going to come on down in the next few weeks, and we're going to pore over our Lincoln collections together.

The way the market is acting, I'm sorely tempted to sell when I'm done with all that, but I haven't decided yet.

Also, I haven't decided what to do after that--maybe get a nice collection of accurately-graded ACG coins (make it short and easy this time), learn Italian, or take up clog dancing...

  • Those old coppers are a bear!! I have to agree it is a fun set to work let alone the changes in type from year to year. Spooly your a brave man going for the color match, just make mine milk Chocolate image with a great strike.

Congratulations, Mr. Poole. How go the 3-centers? That is the set that really impresses me. You improved the picture a bit, as I can see from your icon. Lovely lovely! Just uploaded a new icon myself, speaking of 19th century proofs (that Injun was the only 19th C. proof I've ever owned). Keep up the good work! image

    Bruce,

Congrats on the 1871 MS67, a pop 1 coin! You continue to be the 3CN king! Did you get all those finds at Long Beach?
