beckett grading

I wanted share a negative experience that I had with Beckett grading. I sent JSA/Beckett a 3 by 5 index for authentication and slabbing. I was very surprised when the card was returned to me in a 6 by 9 slab. I did not ask for this extra big slab and I was charged and extra $ 8 for this extra. In my view the card looks mess and can not be stored with my other slabbed index cards in a display case. I was totally dissatisfied wit the slab

When I discussed this Beckett, they basically said they used their judgment to protect the card, case closed. No refund of the $ 8, they would not reslab for free. Done.
They have yet to explain why a huge slab of plastic protected by index cards. They did call or email me with the intent to use a larger slab. They expressed that they were surprised that I would question their judgment. I guess the fact that item is my card and I am the customer did not count

Lastly I posted this on the Beckett board and I did receive much support for my position.
That also surprised me. I must be out of touch with real world that is the world that tolerates low quality work and view customers as problems

I am not posting here for "sympathy" rather it a warning when dealing with Beckett Grading .

When they called and told you they would be using a larger slab, did you ask what size they would be using?

Once I found out Beckett grades cut sheets, I was done with them. I've sold majority of all my beckett slab cards.

I no longer use them as well. It's been over a year.
I'm just trying to dump whatever I have left in BGS slabs.

Not to sound like a jerk, but typically, 3x5 index cards do need to be slabbed in a larger holder. I know that PSA slabs mine in the "tall boy" holder. It's been so long since I've had a BGS holder in hand that I'm not even certain whether it would fit inside. Secondly, if the index card does fit, I don't think the "inner sleeve" would be able to be used and that may have been their "judgement."

to the CU / PSA threads. I'm certain you will find a wealth of information on these threads. As far as beckett grading? Stick with PSA.

In any event, at least enjoy the threads!
