Thoughts on how this will look in person?

MeltdownMeltdown Posts: 8,667 ✭✭✭✭✭
I've been waiting and waiting for this to show up on my doorstep. I was hoping it arrived today
but it looks like I'll have to wait until Monday.
I purchased it off ebay about two weeks ago and then snail mailed a money order for it. About three days ago
I got an email saying the seller had printed a shipping label.
I think I see some decent reverse mirrors? I'm betting the color is pretty nice also.

ANACS, actually pre-ANACS but it's still the same.

The old blue-ish insert ANA slabs are usualy accurately graded.
These scans are not great, but the do show a pretty clean looking cheek and a bunch of interesting toning.

First generation ANACS slab. It will probably be quite nice.

    Looks nice!

It's probably better in hand than it looks in that pic image

The slab is from when the ANA still owned ANACS (American Numismatic Association Certification Service) and graded “by the book.” This was one of the earlier attempts to weed out counterfeits and altered/damaged coins – whizzing was rampant. ANA modeled the service on the American Philatelic Society’s APEX (American Philatelic Expertizing Service) which offers opinions on the genuineness of philatelic material.

It’s likely you will be very pleased with your new coin.

I have seen alot of really nice coins in those old gold seal Anacs holders. I suspect this one will not disappoint.

    Nice find!

    That's a keeper for sure.

Looks like it'll be flashy and colorful and accurately graded.

I'm a fan of those old smaller holders.

Here's mine as an example (MS64) in an older ANA holder:
