I had this on my watch list and placed an early tracking bid, but I'd more or less written it off as out of my price range. I'm now sitting here steaming that I didn't at least take one more shot at it. There's not a lot of money in the budget right now for coins but I could probably find a way to swing $105 a nice clipped late date large cent in red-brown UNC:
Clipped 1855 cent that sold too cheap
I'm pretty sure the seller is a member here, if the bidder is too then my congratulations go out to him as well. I'm going to go kick myself to sleep.

Incomplete planchets wanted, especially Lincoln Cents & type coins.

Aren't clips little dish or moon looking missing areas on the coin???
Things on Ebay are rather queazy right now. You gotta watch the auctions. You can get deals now if you keep your eyes open.

Sometimes savvy collectors can cherrypick these types -- I think Coin Lt. picked off a nice Bust Quarter from Great Southern for only a couple hundred bucks that graded AU58.
I do agree that I might not have won the coin for $106, but if the purse strings were a little looser I'd have bid well over that. Honestly I would not have blinked if it had sold for twice the hammer price. Maybe you need to be an error collector to appreciate just how rare that coin is.
