Minor bank score

I had some banking to do this morning. As always, the teller said "Is there anything else I can do for you?" As always, I replied, "No, not unless you have any half dollars." The teller next to him had $4.50 worth. Two were '64s. Not a big deal, but silver at face value is always nice.

Last year, I got two entire rolls of Walkers and Franklins at the bank in hand rolled wrappers...SWEET. They were just sitting in the teller's drawer and I spotted them when she was counting out her bills, so I asked to buy them.

Needless to say, I ran back and bought every other roll in their vault...about $420 worth if memory serves...and I only got about 2 more pre-1970 Kennedys in the entire batch.

I guess lightning rarely strikes twice...but that was still sweet!

Meltdown

A couple days ago I was at my bank and I asked about half dollars and they told me they did not have any.
The teller beside the one I was talking to said that he goes through all the banks half dollars when they come in.
And then said it was one of the few perks of working there was that he could buy whatever silver he finds for face value.
I left really discouraged and now I'm thinking I might just change banks.

In this day and age it's nice to hear about a minor bank score rather than a major bank scare.

I bought 24 halves at the CU where I work (that's all we've gotten since the last time I bought them all ), and found 4 40%ers.
