The Finest most comprehehensive collection of middle date (1816-1839) Large cents are being offfered on Sunday February 1st at the pre Long Beach
Goldberg auction. If you can't attend the auction then at least check it out on line @Goldbergcoins.com.This collection was the labor of LOVE for at least 50 years of the late Roy Ted Naftzger. Most Newcome varieties as well as die states are represented. What I like the most is that almost ALL the dates are available withe varieing degrees of original red color. The Highlights are two mint state 1823 cents graded ms 65 and ms 66. There is also a mint state 1839/6 graded ms 65 brown. I commend Chris McCauley and Bob Grellman for the expert cataloging and grading of the coins. BTW most all of the coins are in PCGS plastic.

BTW - Speaking of the catalogue, I bet this will be a great reference down the road for ID-ing these Mid-Date Lg Cents.
1823 N-2 R2 PCGS graded MS66BN
1839/6 N-1 R3+ PCGS graded MS65BN
I think these are the ones Stewart is referring to.
I would not be surprised to see some upgrades after the auction in this fine set.
Old copper is just awesome.
