Why is this PSA 3 in a PSA 5 holder?

    Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

    thats crazy.. even without the crease.. those corners are a psa 3

    I would guess it's because the centering, though not perfect, looks pretty good and the painting in the picture of the player is relatively bold and even. Maybe these attributes are particularly good for this year? I don't know. I've noticed this before where the centering and coloration on a card are beautiful, but the edges and/or corners look terrible, and the card still gets a 5 or even a 6. It seems that nice centering, clear focus, and nice coloring in combination carry more weight than corner, edge, and surface wear. But I have to agree, it's hard not to notice those creases and still wonder how it got a 5.
