I haven't followed tennis in years. Do any of the other ranked players even give those guys a good match? Or do they just waltz to the finals every time?

I just watched one of the best tennis matches ever. In fact it was the longest match in Australian Open history: 5 hours, 14 minutes!

Fernando Verdasco (14th seed), played his butt-off for 5 sets, but came-up just short, as Rafael Nadal survived in the final minutes, wow! The great players always seem to be able to "pull-out" those last minute victories.

This was truly a terrific and entertaining tennis match. It kept a full house of Australian tennis fans on the edge of their seats for over five hours! (And kept me awake since 3 am too!)

Oh my!

Figures youd post this. Watched the first to sets last night then fell asleep no biggy had it recorded or so I thought woke up just minutes ago jacked to watch the rest of this great match. Press play go to the end of the recording UGGGHHHH forgot to press extended taped just to where I fell asleep BUMMER.

My sleep has been a mess Ive watched most of it live all week. Good for the cards though finally did final assesments on my 77opc,86opc,and 79 opc and 81 topps.

I still watch all the Tennis majors and collect signed tennis balls from US Open Winners. Federer/Nadal is certainly already one of the best rivalries all time. The #3 guy (Djokovic) is actually a really good player, and if he played from 98-04 he'd have 4-5 majors, but Since Wimbledon 03, Federer has 13 out 22 and Nadal has 4 French Opens and a Wimbledon. This will be the 7th time they have played each other in a Grand Slam Final. Nadal is 4-0 against him at Roland Garros and they're 1-1 against each other at Wimbledon.

Honestly, I like Federer because of the surface. Nadal on clay (obviously) and grass has a couple advantages but on a neutral type surface like Plexicusion (a type of hard court), Federer's best game is better than Nadal's.

In a way, their rivalry is a lot like Tiger and Phil in golf - not in terms of the way they play against each other, but the way they hoard majors. If not for Tiger and Phil, Ernie Els might have 7-8 majors or Sergio might have 3-4. He's just playing in the wrong era....same goes for Djokovic, Andy Murray and Andy Roddick.

I dunno, Federer is going to have an extra days rest and Nadal just ran a marathon. I think Federer takes it...he's a better hardcourt player as well. Plus I can't root for Nadal...he's jus too Eurotrash looking...greasy hair, flourescent colors, capri pants. Can't do it. I like Federer's quiet cool...he's like Tennis' version of mid 90's Greg Maddux. Doesn't have the 95mph fastball but he can put the ball on a dime. He Just carved up Andy Roddick.

I've enjoyed watching this year's matches of the Australian Open.

While the women's tourney surely has lacked without the likes of Justine Henin and Maria Sharapova, to name a couple, the men's tourney has been predictable.

I respect both mens finalists and really thought Roddick was going to do much better considering his recent weight loss/training regime.

With that said, I'm leaning towards Federer to pull this one out. Just a feeling.

As a side note, what's up with Nadal and the pants-tugging ordeal? Seriously, does anyone know if he does that on purpose or is it his attire or what? Not meant as a joke, but I hear people always asking why he tugs all the time and I have no answer.

Nah, it's greencrow's thing. He looks to see what athlete is having a birthday, then searches for a thread with that athlete's name in the title, then wishes that athlete happy birthday in said thread.
