There's just enough there to think, I might be alright. My current coin in this slot is a dog, and I'm hoping this one is nice........

I think you should dip it in MS70 so it turns blue. The submit to NGC for a grade of PF65*.

I would probably end up in a bag the way they are grading copper these days.

Well, the seller sure doen't care if you see the coin! But I'll bet it's nice, I think?
The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

Even though you did gamble a bit, I'd also bet you do ok. The seller seems legit and I'm sure would let you return it to save his feedback. It takes forever for infrequent sellers to recover from one neg. This seller has had less than 2 transactions per month, but has been on ebay since '99.

The guy looks like a legit seller so I think you are alright even though a lot could be hoped for in his camera skills.

    I think you've been taken.
There's no reason I can imagine why anyone would crack a slab
to store it the way it looks in the pics.
I hope I'm wrong. Good luck.

It was never in a slab......It was graded in the 1980's by Anacs, before slabs were on the scene.

    PCGS, yes, NGC - maybe.

Anyway, I think you will be pleased with the coin, and will end up being a good buy.

Good lord, who would actually run an auction with a photo like that?
    image

I guess some folks simply cannot get a better picture than that out of their camera.

It's better than my indian head cent photo, but I was going for the black hole effect:

I also suspect this will be a sweet coin.
